Submissions open for the Student Art Exhibit 2013

It's that time of year again, when students from every major in campus send in their latest works of art for a chance at exhibiting their pieces at the UH Libraries’ 6th Annual Student Art Exhibit 2013. As always, the jurors will include curators from the Menil Collection and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, as well as prominent members of the Houston arts community and UH School of Art faculty.

Any student enrolled Spring 2013 can participate, regardless of what your classification or major is. There are some requirements that the artworks should fulfill, but they allow plenty of room for creativity and expression.

2D artworks in any medium:

• ready to hang with wires or brackets or on foam core
• not to exceed 5’x 5’
• not over 5 pounds
• should not protrude more than 4” from the wall

Sculpture:

• with pedestals
• no more than 20 pounds total
• must fit inside a library elevator

The UH Digital Library makes sure that the works exhibited pass on to posterity by photographing the students' artwork. Visit the Student Art Exhibit collection to admire works from 2010-2012.

Students should submit their work to the Architecture and Art Library, located in the College of Architecture. The deadline for submissions is February 8, 2013 and the exhibit will be on display in the M.D. Anderson Library from February 22 to April 12, 2013.
